Leah Falls Down

This is a video on Youtube. Leah is one of my regular customers at the bar, and, of course, I am her favorite bartender.... This was filmed by her sister during the Florida/Georgia game in Jacksonville. I think it's hilarious, but the funniest part is that the camera, aka her sister, never wavers... She was not, by the way, injured.....

My Life as Larry...

So, the recording has started. I am, officially, a voice actor. In fact, they have now decided that I, as Larry Tools, need to be the narrator for the whole game. This means extra recording time, and extra pay! It pays well, but one doesn't get many hours in.... We have an "emergency recording session" tomorrow evening. They have to release a demo to XBox Live (whatever the heck that is) next week, and have to finalize some script elements. Just a little bit more to record, for now, probably lots more later.

The company had a Halloween party last night... I normally wouldn't have been interested in such, but they offered an Xbox 360 to the best costume from the game. I was going to come as one of the monsters, Mr. Huggles, but didn't have time to get the thing together, so came as my character, Larry Tools. This involved running around to every thrift shop, and every department store in town (and I mean every one, including both Walmarts) looking for a cheap leather jacket to cut the sleeves of of.... Actually, the costume came out pretty well. I looked rather like Larry, if I do say so myself, as did all of the programmers....

Well, I didn't win the XBox. I lost to one of the other voice actors, who came dressed as her character. It was a good costume, I must admit. Mine was better... :) I got the vote of all of the programmers, the owner of the company, but she'd brought in a built in voting block. She had her boyfriend, roommate, and friends that came to the party. Oh well, I only lost by one vote... All kidding aside, there were some great costumes, and hers was pretty close to her character, so I'm happy for her. I wish I'd won, but if wishes were horses, we'd all be eatin' steak....

The bonus is that the owner of the company was impressed, and wants to take the voice actors, dressed as the characters, to tech shows to promote the game. This means that they'll pay my way around the country to do shows, and I'll get paid to boot! Not a bad little gig for something that started out as a lark, eh?
